Scar of the Sun have been steadily forging a name for themselves as a major stadium metal act of the future.

That reputation was forged with the release of two very impressive albums to-date in the form of ‘A Series of Unfortunate Concurrencies’ and ‘In Flood’. However, with their third full-length album,

‘Inertia’, Scar of the Sun’s international star will shine even brighter.

After SCAR OF THE SUN singer Terry Nikas proudly played “Inertia” for me in 2019, it actually took a year and a half until Napalm Records, finally decided to release the Athenians’ third album. This is actually incomprehensible, because SCAR OF THE SUN is undoubtedly one of the strongest European dark metal bands ever.

What all eleven tracks on ‘Inertia’ have in common is their compositional finesse and emotional depth. The transparent sound also contributes to this, of course. Unreserved purchase recommendation.

Scar of the Sun is a Greek act that fits into both melodeath and modern metal, and the band’s third effort (and first for Napalm Records) is well-crafted material that should appeal to fans in both of the aforementioned camps. Combining all of these aspects makes for a thrilling and enjoyable album that never gets bogged down in one area. Inertia provides a great batch of melodic death metal/modern metal tunes that hit across a wide spectrum.

Scar of the Sun conjure up melody after melody, and combine it with just the right amount of aggression to make it work wonders. An easy sell to genre fans.

BIO

Formed in late 2000’s, Athens (Gr) based Scar Of The Sun have been making a name for themselves throughout Europe with their fresh take on modern metal.

A SERIES UF UNFORTUNATE CONCURRENCES

After playing numerous shows and festivals throughout Greece and the surrounding region, including a brief run with Dark Tranquillity and Insomnium, the group caught the attention of Italian label Scarlet Records, who released their debut full length A Series Of Unfortunate Concurrencies, which was produced by Rhys Fulber (Fear Factory, Machine Head, Paradise Lost, Delerium) , in 2011. The album quickly propelled the band into the spotlight and saw Scar Of The Sun touring extensively throughout Europe alongside the likes of Dark Tranquillity, Insomnium, Rage, Tyr, Pain, Moonspell and Swallow The Sun.

IN FLOOD

The band released their follow up album In Flood, produced again by Rhys Fulber, mixed by S. Koliousis (Keep Of Kalessin, Kvelertak) and engineered by band vocalist Terry Nikas (Septic Flesh, Nightrage, Suicidal Angels) in 2016. The record saw Scar Of The Sun truly finding their voice and they supported its release with a tour of the UK and Europe alongside Firewind and Manimal.

INERTIA

After the success of In Flood and an equally successful Latin American tour with Monuments, the band was approached by Austrian powerhouse label Napalm Records and signed a deal to release their third album Inertia that was mixed by the band’s singer Terry Nikas and mastered by Jens Bogren. Despite the fact that Inertia was released during the pandemic, it was by far the most successful album of Scar Of The Sun, reaching about 5 million streams on Spotify. The album was pushed by 4 singles/music videos and gaining huge attention in the USA and Europe, helped also by huge media coverage worldwide. For the release of Inertia, Scar Of The Sun toured extensively Europe alongside Septic Flesh, Equilibrium and Oceans, doing the longest tour they did so far.

Scar Of The Sun is currently gearing up to unleash their fourth and indisputably best album Atlas Relented onto the world in 2025. At once heavier and catchier, with more massive hooks and a songwriting maturity honed through more than a decade together, their new record surely propel the group to the top of the metal world.
